About Fellowship Recovery

Fellowship Recovery is a Minnesota-based substance use disorder treatment organization dedicated to supporting individuals in their recovery journey. In addition to our outpatient treatment services, we operate residential sober living properties that provide safe, supportive environments for individuals working toward long-term recovery.

As our organization continues to grow and expand our residential housing operations, we are seeking an experienced and dependable Property Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Operations team.

About the Position

We are looking for a skilled, hands-on maintenance professional who takes pride in their work, knows how to troubleshoot problems, and can independently complete a wide variety of property repairs and improvement projects.

This is not a desk-based facilities management position. We need someone who is comfortable picking up tools, diagnosing problems, completing repairs, and ensuring our residential and office properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in residential property maintenance, general construction, or building repairs and understands when work requires permits, inspections, or appropriately licensed contractors.

You will work directly with our Director of Facilities Operations and provide occasional hands-on technical guidance to other maintenance personnel. This position does not include formal supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Property Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs across multiple residential sober living homes and office facilities.

  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures, appliances, doors, locks, windows, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, and other building components.

  • Complete carpentry, painting, patching, minor renovations, and general property improvement projects.

  • Identify and troubleshoot basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing concerns within applicable licensing requirements.

  • Prioritize maintenance requests based on urgency, safety, and operational needs.

  • Complete assigned repairs and projects efficiently, safely, and to established quality standards.

Preventive Maintenance & Property Upkeep

  • Conduct routine property inspections to identify needed repairs, maintenance concerns, and potential safety hazards.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, fixtures, equipment, and appliances.

  • Identify potential problems before they develop into larger, more costly repairs.

  • Assist with preparing and maintaining residential properties during occupancy changes, renovations, and organizational expansion.

  • Help ensure properties remain clean, safe, functional, and properly maintained.

Building Codes, Permits & Contractor Coordination

  • Recognize when maintenance projects require building permits, municipal inspections, or licensed professionals.

  • Assist with coordinating necessary permits, inspections, and contractor services.

  • Communicate with outside plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other specialized contractors when appropriate.

  • Ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with applicable safety standards, building requirements, and licensing regulations.

Team Collaboration & Accountability

  • Provide hands-on assistance and technical guidance to less experienced maintenance personnel.

  • Work closely with the Director of Facilities Operations to establish maintenance priorities and coordinate projects.

  • Maintain accurate records of completed repairs, materials used, and outstanding maintenance needs.

  • Communicate project updates, anticipated completion timelines, and any unexpected delays.

  • Demonstrate strong follow-through, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Maintain professional interactions with residents, clients, employees, and outside service providers.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in residential property maintenance, commercial building maintenance, construction, or a related field.

  • Strong practical skills in general carpentry, plumbing fixtures, drywall repair, painting, flooring, appliance troubleshooting, and routine building maintenance.

  • Ability to independently diagnose maintenance problems and complete quality repairs without constant supervision.

  • Familiarity with building codes, property safety standards, and basic permitting requirements.

  • Ability to recognize when repairs require a licensed contractor or specialized professional.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple maintenance requests and projects.

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to meet established project deadlines.

  • Effective communication skills and a professional approach to working in occupied residential environments.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between assigned properties.

  • Ability to meet applicable Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience maintaining multiple residential rental properties, multifamily housing, or commercial facilities.

  • Experience with residential remodeling, property renovations, or rehabilitation projects.

  • Relevant trade certifications, contractor licensing, or specialized maintenance training.

  • Experience coordinating municipal permits, building inspections, and licensed contractors.

  • Familiarity with HVAC troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

  • Experience providing technical guidance or hands-on training to other maintenance workers.

  • Previous experience working in sober living, supportive housing, behavioral health, or similar residential environments.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek, generally Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Work is performed onsite at Fellowship Recovery's residential and office properties throughout Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, and surrounding areas. Regular travel between properties is required.

The position involves physical maintenance work, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, using hand and power tools, and safely lifting or moving maintenance materials and equipment, generally up to 75 pounds with appropriate assistance or equipment when needed.

Occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary to address urgent property maintenance needs.

Reasonable accommodations are available to qualified applicants and employees in accordance with applicable law.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $65,000–$75,000, depending on relevant experience, technical skills, and qualifications.

Fellowship Recovery offers eligible full-time employees a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST)

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Additional applicable company-sponsored benefits

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is more than just handy. We need an experienced maintenance professional who can walk into a property, identify what needs to be done, determine the appropriate repair, and follow through until the job is completed correctly.

The right person will be self-motivated, resourceful, dependable, and comfortable working independently while remaining accountable to established priorities and deadlines.

Because our properties serve individuals in recovery, professionalism, discretion, respectful communication, and appropriate boundaries are essential.

If you have a strong maintenance background, enjoy hands-on work, and want to put your skills to use maintaining properties that support individuals in recovery, we encourage you to apply!

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
